About Mrs. Shimizu
Hello! I'm Cara Shimizu, and am passionate about helping students reach their music goals, and helping them become pianists with wide-ranging practical skills. I have been teaching piano since 2007, and have 30+ years of performing experience. My philosophy is that learning piano can be a source of joy for life, and can enhance every other area of learning.
While earning my Doctor of Pharmacy degree at Idaho State University, I completed a Minor in Music on the organ. My teachers include pianist Carolyn Lyon and Tabernacle Organist Richard Elliott, and I won multiple organ competitions during my studies. I'm a member of the Utah Music Teachers' Association and the American Guild of Organists.
